Suddenly, there are a multitude of good-news stories in the media! Whether I’m reading the Courier Mail, the Chronicle, the Gatton Star or Withcott News or the Christian Science Monitor, I’m finding that there are more and more stories of gratitude, patience, perseverance and healing in people’s lives.
So what about the impact of the Australian floods, inland tsunami and cyclone … the earthquakes in Christchurch and Japan and resulting tsunami and radiation disaster … and the increasing wars and famines, you might ask?
I’m discovering from recent news reports that rather than the increase in natural disasters around the world being the beginning of the ‘end of the world’, as some people are suggesting – these events seem to be catalysts that are forcing people to take the time to consider what is REALLY important in their lives.
For starters, we don’t have to worry about an ‘end of the world’ scenario …… ever. The All-good God who governs the universe couldn’t possibly make evil and need to correct His mistakes!
It was not until I was forced to stop and think, when things went ‘pear-shaped’ in my life that I started to really consider my purpose from a spiritual perspective. I’d been doing a lot of soul-searching and started to realise that I needed a very different view of myself as the actual child of God, good. This new view of myself that I was beginning to discover through prayer and study, meant that I could be positive instead of negative with others, I could be thoughtful and patient instead of competitive … hurried … impatient. I discovered that as the expression of God I could be perfectly healthy in thought and body instead of feeling insecure, an underachiever, a failure and often sick. I could be grateful for the good I’d received instead of thinking that it was never enough. A major change in thought has turned my life around many, many times and more than likely will again.
I guess that there are many people in Japan, Christchurch and Queensland struggling with a deep sense of hurt and frustration about how they or their friends and family have been dealt such a bad hand. And this is quite understandable. However, it’s comforting and life-changing to realise that the force that governs the universe is really God, infinite Love, who couldn’t possibly send evil because He/She is ONLY good and governs the spiritual universe perfectly. This is a radically different way of seeing the world – a paradigm shift that we all need to make at some time.
Actually, every healing or major change of thought I’ve had in my life has meant a rebuilding in my life. Whether a country, region, you or your family need to rebuild their lives, be sure that God is guiding us all in changing our old outmoded ways of thinking and behaving and providing our every need to move forward.
Accepting the all-good God’s thoughts as ours will bring better ways of viewing ourselves … each other … and the world. It will also bring better, cleaner, kinder and more equitable ways of doing things in our families, homes, in the workplace and in the community. It will bring us peace …. and healing.
If you’re in South East Queensland you can find out more about this life-changing Science and its application to rebuilding lives at a talk entitled “How Prayer Meets Our Needs Today” to be held on Tuesday 3 May 2011 in the Lockyer Valley, the area hit hard by the recent floods. More info…..
